North Brunswick, NJScrub Technician - Full Time for busy Ophthalmic Surgery CenterJob requires that you perform preoperative Scrub according to Department Policy and Procedure.
You will don a sterile gown and gloves, set up instrumentation and equipment dictated by Department guidelines.
Perform counts with the circulating nurse before, during and after the procedure as required.
Assist surgeons with gown and gloves, and after skin preparation is completed including assisting with draping the patient.
You will need to safely pass instruments, sponges and sutures during the procedureMaintaining the sterile field and ensure that all members of the team adhere to specific techniques, verify and prepare medications and solutions to be administered within the sterile field and maintain an accurate accounting of amount used.
Handle all specimens in an appropriate fashion ie:
specimen name, body location and proper disposition.
Provide safe patient care and maintain patient dignity.
Assists in application dressings, handles all instrumentation in a careful manner.
Upon completion of the procedure, prepare instruments and equipment for cleaning.
Assist with Operation Room clean-up and turnover following Universal Precautions.
Proficient in scrubbing ophthalmology servicesQUALIFICATIONSWorking knowledge of the function and operation of operating room equipment.
Working knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and the correct terminology.
Ability to provide information, explain policies and procedures to team members.
Ability to speak, write and read English.
Ability to set priorities, recognize emergency situations and take the appropriate action under the direction of the nurse in charge.
Work independently and follow through on all assignments.
Ability to move objects ie; heavy carts and handle surgical equipment safely.
Preferred knowledge of Eye surgical procedures.
HOURSMonday-Friday 6:
30 AM-3:
00 PM, depending on facility needs.
